A time lapse video of my quick sketch of the Japanese Bridge in Hoi An
Sketching in Hoi An, Vietnam
You have to get up early to beat the tourist crush in Hoi An these days but when you do, you can get the old buildings to yourself. One beautiful morning, I stood and sketched the Japanese Bridge. There is such a lot of mythology around this structure including that a giant monster catfish lives underneath, with its head in India and its tail in Japan. A god rides the back of this catfish and keeping it subdued with a massive stone. If the catfish goes wild, its waggling tail will cause earthquakes in Japan!
This was a 10 minutes sketch completed before the sun became too hot. Click the link to see the video.
