Palestinian artist, Malak Mattar (23) tells her story of a life lived in Gaza as a prisoner of the Israeli government.
She paints the women and children of her neighbourhood; of their daily lives, their love and losses and the fears they suffer every day.
This painting is entitled 'When family is the only shelter'
She studied Politics and International Relations at Istanbul University s and was awarded a Global Talent Visa by the UK so she could begin her master's degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London this year.
She feels the weight of responsibility to tell the stories of the ordinary citizens of Gaza through her paintings which have now been exhibited in 80 countries around the world. She is one to watch.
